Mardella E. Grandt, 94, of Hampton, formerly of Latimer, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017, at Franklin Country View Nursing Facility in Hampton, Iowa.
She was born September 21, 1922, in Franklin County, Iowa, to Martin and Hedvig (Rodgers) Dreyer. Mardella attended rural country schools. She was united in marriage to Casper Grandt on September 20, 1941, in Princeton, Missouri. Mardella was a farm wife who worked alongside her husband Casper. She was an active member at St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Hampton. Mardella enjoyed raising chickens, selling eggs, gardening, cooking, baking, canning, playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren. She cared for Diane and was involved with Access, Inc. in Hampton.
Mardella is survived by her daughter Sharon Thielen of Latimer, grandchildren Annette (Bruce) Harris of Geneva, Kurt (Roxann) Thielen of Latimer, Shereen (Dave) Solseth of Altoona, Donald (Veronica) Grandt of Vaughn, Washington, Karen (Dave) Meyer of Geneva, foreign exchange granddaughter Lene (Kennet Palm) Steendahl of Denmark, great-grandchildren Laura (Jeremy) Monaghan, Amanda (Ben) Wobschall, Melissa (John Deaton) Harris, Tricia (Nate Parham) Thielen, Stephanie Thielen, Lauren Solseth, Dustin Solseth, Eva Solseth, Hunter Grandt, Matthew Grandt, Alex Meyer, and Denmark great-granddaughter Naia Steendahl, great great-grandchildren Charlotte Wobschall, Grandt Wobschall, and Calan Monaghan, sisters Arlene Christman of Bend, Oregon, and Karen Omari of Omaha, Nebraska, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Martin and Hedvig, husband Casper, son Kenneth (Bud) Grandt, daughter Diane Grandt, son-in-law Gay Thielen, daughter-in-law Pam Grandt Rother, brother Kenneth Dreyer, sister-in-law Betty Dreyer and brother-in-law Joe Christman.
