Robert Edward Shultz, 93, of Allison, Iowa, passed away Monday, November 27, 2017, at the Waverly Health Center, Waverly, IA. He was born on December 27, 1923, in Marble Rock, Iowa, to Phillip E. and Leota (Bettesworth) Shultz.
Robert graduated from Allison High School. He served his country in the Army Airforce during World War II (1943-46). Robert was united in marriage to Norma Jean Pfaltzgraff on November 12, 1950, at the Dumont United Methodist Church. He worked for the United States Postal Service for over thirty-eight years, serving as Post Master for over 30 years.
Bob was an avid reader and loved learning. He enjoyed woodworking, bird watching, fishing in Minnesota, working in his flower garden, watching Hawkeye basketball, being with his family, and hunting with his favorite dog, Abby. Visiting with his many good friends and good neighbors meant a lot to him. Robert volunteered for the Allison Ambulance, Wilder Park, and Trees Forever. He was a Mason, a member of the Allison Amvets, and a member of the Allison Congregational Church.
Robert is survived by his wife, Jean of Allison, daughter Denise (Doug) Sivertsen of Moline, Illinois, son Jay (Michele) Shultz of Allison, grandchildren Nicholas (Katie) Sivertsen, Christopher (Kala) Sivertsen, Dana Shultz and Jillane Shultz (fiance, Eric Gilmour), great-grandchildren Brooklyn, Creighton, Hudson, Harper, and Hayden, sister-in-law Marilyn "Peg" Shultz, one niece, Karen (Duane) Strempke and nephews Ted (Rita) Shultz, Tom (Susie) Shultz, and David (Cecelia) Shultz.
He was preceded in death by his parents Phillip and Leota Shultz and brother Roger "Pete" Shultz.
Memorials may be directed to the Allison Public Library or Wilder Park.
