Rose M. Freie, 65, of Mason City, Iowa, passed away Friday, February 23, 2018, at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.
She was born on October 8, 1952, to Joseph and Marie (Neumann) Ginder. As a young teen, Rose was eventually raised by her foster parents Jerry and Donna Jo Eckman. She graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1972. Rose was united in marriage to Darrel Freie on February 14, 1973, at the First Christian Church in Hampton. Although her most important job was as a wife, mother, and grandmother; Rose also worked as a waitress, secretary, store manager, and a siliconer at Winnebago Industries in Forest City, Iowa, up until 2008. Rose had touched many lives throughout her short time here on earth. She always had an open shoulder for you to cry on, an ear to listen to you when needed, and great advice if sought. She enjoyed reading, being outdoors, spending time with her family, and her dog Sheba.
Rose is survived by her husband Darrel Freie of Mason City, daughter Tanya (Lance) Scarrow of Mason City, son Cory (Angela) Freie of Mason City; grandson USMC Sgt. Dominick (Mayra) Scarrow and their son Fabian, granddaughter Alayna Freie and grandson Huxley Freie; brother John (Mary) Ginder of Mason City, brother Mike (Lannette) Ginder of Algona, brother Phillip Ginder; her foster father Jerry Eckman of Republic, Missouri, her foster sister Lannette (Dale) Morisset of Billings, Missouri, her foster brother Harlan (Kathy O'Leary) Barker of Des Moines, her foster brother Richard Eckman; brothers-in-law Norlin Freie and Darwin Freie of Hampton, along with several nieces.
She was preceded in death by her mother Marie, father Joseph, brothers Benedict, Mark, and Joey, sister Teresa, foster mother Donna Jo Eckman, father-in-law Kenneth Freie, mother-in-law Idella Freie and a nephew, Joey.
