Obituary
Lyle Harold Holmgaard, 42, of Mason City, Iowa, passed away August 17, 2010, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City, Iowa. He was born November 19, 1967, in Hampton, Iowa, to Harold and Beulah (Burma) Holmgaard. Lyle graduated from the Hampton High School in 1986 and attended NIACC in Mason City, Iowa. He married Patty Myers on May 6, 1989, at the United Methodist Church in Hampton, Iowa. Lyle was the owner and Broker of Heartland Realtors and former owner of City Sound in Mason City, Iowa. He was Past President and current member of the Mason City Board of Realtors, was on the Legislative Chairperson for the Iowa Association of Realtors. Lyle was a Federal Policy Coordinator for US Congressman Charles Grassley and was Treasurer/VP of the Iowa Association of Realtors. He was the Local Realtors Political Action Committee and Mason City Planning and Zoning Board of Adjustments. He was in line to become president of the Iowa Association of Realtors when he graciously stepped away from it because of his illness. Lyle was a man of quiet dignity and thoughtful words. He was recognized by his peers for his keen mind and patience. Lyle enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, boating golfing and doing home projects. Lyle is survived by his wife Patty, daughter Madelyn (13), sons Ian (10) and Nash (6) all of Mason City, mother Beulah Holmgaard of Hampton, sisters Beth (Rick) Whalen and Amy Holmgaard of Hampton and a sister-in-law Cathy (Ed) Bauer of Mason City, nieces and nephews Erica, Cassandra, Melissa, Laura & Cayden, Kaylee, Jillian, Nathan & Logan. Lyle was preceded in death by his father, Harold D. Holmgaard, sister Coralee Erickson, nephew Lucas Lumley, father-in-law and mother-in-law Harvey W. and Susan J. Myers and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery in Mason City.
Memorials may be directed to the family for future disbursement.
My condolences are extended to Lyle's families, both personal and business. No words can ease the pain, but please take comfort in the fact that Lyle positively touched many lives, and all of us are thinking of him and his family at this time.

To paraphrase our 1986 Class Motto: Lyle and I met as strangers in Mrs Jingst's K'garden class, quickly grew close, even trying to repair a 67 Ford Galaxy 500 that was beyond our ability, and my prayers and freindship remain with the entire Holmgaard family to this day, and all days to come. Beulah, Joni and I know the pain of losing a child is one that no person should have to endure at any age. May Lyle's peace be with you now. Patty, we are here for you, as well, in any way you need us to be. Love you, Lyle. Now rest, Brother.

Our sincere sympathy to all of Lyle's family in this time and especially as we pray for you in the days ahead. Lyle's baptism was the first one for Pastor Ben when we arrived at Nazareth Lutheran in Coulter. May God strengthen you as you continue walk hand in hand with him. May your memories help you also.
