Jonathan David Hofer, 32, of Hampton, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2019, in Hampton. He was born September 12, 1986, in Iowa City, to Jeffrey and Shelly (Hanson) Hofer.
Jon graduated from Hampton Dumont High School and North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City. He was united in marriage to Stephanie Janssen on June 10, 2006, in Hampton. Jon worked at Sukup Manufacturing in Sheffield.
Jon was a member of the Church of the Living Word in Hampton. He enjoyed computer technology, helping out at the hardware store and spending time with his family.
One of Jon's great gifts was his ability to help out those "mortal" humans that could not figure out modern technology. He would swoop in like a super hero and rescue them. When Zoey and Dexter became interested in Minecraft, Jon built a whole server network just so that he could play with them. Who else would save his Nintendo system from the 90's just so his kids could learn the cool old games.
Jon is survived by his wife Stephanie of Hampton, daughter Zoey Jane of Hampton, son Dexter Myles of Hampton, parents Jeffrey and Shelly Hofer of Hampton, brother Andrew (Jayna) Hofer of Dumont, sister Nichole (Greg) Counsell of Hampton, brother Daniel Hofer of Hampton, sister Malinda (Johnny) Tello of Hampton, brother Timothy Hofer of Hampton, paternal grandmother Lauritta Hofer of Hampton, father and mother-in-law Rick and Gaye Janssen of Hampton, brother-in-law Todd (Carol) Janssen of Greenville, South Carolina, one maternal grandmother-in-law, ten nieces and nephews and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jon was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Walter and Shirley Hanson, paternal grandfather Ernest Merlyn Hofer, maternal grandparents-in-law Ken and Loretta Janssen, and a maternal grandfather-in-law.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Jon Hofer memorial fund.
