I was blessed with the daily privilege for over 30 years to work with and learn from this remarkably gifted person. She taught me more about how to do the practical day to day things to take care our client's needs than any course I took in law school.
When I joined the law firm, Dorothy was still taking shorthand dictation from our senior partner Nate Levinson. She continued doing that for Nate as she mastered the dictaphone, the electric typewriter and eventually the computer to work with the other attorneys.
Dorothy never quit learning new legal skills. Her degree of accuracy on highly technical documents was remarkable. Her quick mastery of new Internal Revenue Code provisions and their related tax forms left me in the dust behind her. When Dorothy announced she was going to retire I followed her out the door.
Dorothy was professional and highly skilled but most importantly she was caring. Our clients were more than their legal cases, they were people with families many of whom she had followed for years.
Her biggest delight and her brightest smiles were reserved however for when we talked about what was going on with her family. Each new childbirth, visit, illness, farm crop report or change in job that involved anyone in her extended family was vitally important to her. At her core she loved her family above all else.
So sorry to hear of Dorothy's passing...she was a delight to get to know. Sending condoloences and Hugs!
